Carriage restoration

I often focus, possibly too much, on loco restoration

However much excellent dedicated work is involved
in restoring the carriages we travel in

So here's a cheer for those who devote
much attention to such restoration

45596 'Bahamas' Work now underway

Work is now underway at Ingrow Bahamas society
workshops on preparing 45595 for overhaul. The motion is now off
and the work progresses to lifting the boiler ready to go down to Tyresly

Yesterday at Ingrow works

The tender awaits it's turn.

Ingrow has a great deal to see.
The Keighley Worth Valley line hosts
the Bahamas society as well as the Vintage
carriage trust. Both have their own museums
So there is plenty to see and do at Ingrow.

Ingrow West

The suffix 'West' is because at one time there was
and Ingrow East which was the penultimate station
before Keighley on the Great Northern Railways line
from Halifax and Bradford via Queensbury.

Derby 4f simmers at Ingrow West

Ingrow East GNR lay at the top of this bank, now a builders yard.
The lines then ran parallel but with a much higher gradient for the
GNR down to Great Northern Junction where the GNR line split.
One branch joined the Midland Worth Valley line to run into Keighley
The other continued with a steep down grade to run beneath the MR line
and into the Great Northern's own good yard.

Looks like a big job for a little fella

In reality it is the Loco museum at Ingrow on the
Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.

A very good day can be spent on the line

This Leeds company were as prolific as some of
the main line company engine works.

The standards of build were every bit as good

A suitable subject for model engineers the world over
