Strines cutting and the portal
It was a massive feat of engineering
I believe Queensbury tunnel is the Longest
deepest tunnel in England. The massive work
of digging through Illingworth moor through
to Queensbury is nearly two miles. The depth at
Strines cutting is some 60ft so the depth within
can be imagined from this picture.
