Railways steam breakdown crane on the LMS

A Stanier 8F hauls the breakdown crane to a bit
of a derailment on the Settle to Carlisle line

Many thanks John Austin for your superb pictures

Do support our railway artists there pictures can
be seen on numerous calendar's and cards so do
buy them as they are an excellent memento
of a time now past.

The Diesel's Deltics and class 20's

The Deltic's were the first real mainline diesel I
remember

Look here Two!! Yes two class 20's we would have
said told you so, a 9F would not be double headed

Surprisingly many have survived into preservation

The LMS Duchesses and Brief Encounter

How well I remember that film with Trevor Howard
and Celia Johnson and real classic and of course the
Music of Rachmaninoff

The film was made somewhere up here as the
station platofrom direction board shows Skipton
and my home city of Bradford, but it was the
piano concerto of Rachmaninoff which brought
it to life for me

The LMS was my favorite railway but the LNER was well known to me also

The ubiquitous Black five depicted her passing
Heaton Norris

And in later years my oft used destination was
Kings Cross as a long journey began which could
end anywhere.

Kings Cross was often the first leg to joining a ship
somewhere.

Camden and Kings Cross sheds

The Duchess Princess Royal class and below the
LNER A1 A3 and A4 at top shed

I think John Austins own description sums them up

Could this be Old Oak Common with the GWR
Castles

And above my old profession personified in Mr
Bullied's Merchant navy class

Duchess Princess Royal class at Beattock by John Austin

The winters up here can be pretty severe

Excellent depiction of the good in the loop allowing
the express to pass

John Austin another good railway artist Steam engine's on canvas

The power of the A4's

Summer or winter, rain or shine

I believe John did these for Hornby
