Oxenhope and the USATC S160 No 5820

The past weeks after the Autumn Festival has seen
USATC 5820 doing a good proportion of the work
at weekends.
 
 
The Autumn dews and damps made famous by the well
 known Battle Hymn of the Republic of the American poet,
 writer and social activist Julia Ward Howe are well and truly
upon us as we slide towards winter and I am reminded of
those men who fought the American civil war in which
 the Railway or Railroad as it was known played such
an important part. Here USATC 5820 readies its
train at Oxenhope on just such a morning
