We called em 'Spam cans' West Country Pacific 'Wells'

Many of us of my age will remember the concept
of SPAM and the tin in which it was preserved.
A mixture of Salt pork and ham compressed
tightly in a semi triangular tin. It was the
meat of those days just after the war and
lasted well into the 1950's. I well remember
it fried and it was great that way but I was never
too keen on it straight from the tin. Developed as
rations for the US troops in WW2, in times of shortage
after the war it was a godsend for mum's struggling to
feeds hungry mouths.

So the semi triangular tin had roughly the section of
smooth case of the Southern Railway Pacific's.

Here 'Wells' runs back at Oxenhope.
