Railway art that reminds us of those winters long ago

Ordinary snow fall stopped nothing, the railways
ran on and the men who drove them.

Only on the high fells would heavy drifts bring a
train to a halt for a day or two

Still the PW men went out and worked, thawing
points and signal blocks

Nor was there any right or wrong sort of snow.
Snow was snow and in the British Isles it always
snowed in winter so be ready

At some of the highest stations in the land every
one got on with it.

Many thanks to our railway artists.
