Caprotti valve gear

Who knows what could have been achieved with further development of the British Caprotti valve gear. Fitted to a number of the Standard's, only development on the gear of the Duke gave an indication of what could have been achieved.

  1. Does anyone know where the drawing archives for the Caprotti valve gear Co. is held today? Maybe it was donated to a rail or transportation library or other instution for long term preservation? I need to find the 1928 blueprints for all the Caprotti parts that were built with a Baldwin 2-8-2 locomtive. I am hoping these drawings still exist in an archive somewhere.

  2. I think you will find they are at the National Railway museum in York. If you have difficulty then the 71000 society have much information on then as they indeed perfected the design in preservation.
