The last one to share with you is of the village where I was born, Thornton. Once again a very rugged line of which I have written much in previous articles. The picture here shows the Railway crossing Bradford Dale over the viaduct from Queensbury then turning west and north on route to Denholme and Cullingworth and it's terminal at Keighley. Thornton station was situated at the northern (right hand of picture) end of the viaduct and I well remember journeys across to Halifax where other relations lived
The bottom left hand corner of the picture shows the Old Bell Chapel and it graveyard where Patrick Bronte, father of the Bronte sisters was incumbent in the middle 19th century. The girls were all born in Thornton at a little house on Market St which bears a plaque to that effect. The remains of the Bell chapel and graveyard are well cared for as is the old hall and of course the new church of St James is on the other side of Thornton Rd opposite the Bell chapel grounds
