In 1895 the Midland Railway began operating goods traffic over a short branch to Yeadon. It was just over a mile long and ran from a junction south of Guiseley station on the Ilkley line, traffic toiling up the 1 in 50 gradient to a terminus somewhere between the Henshaw Lane and Green Lane area.
Local people pressed for a passenger service to be instated and a station was built, but before any service was introduced the tramway system reached the town in 1906 and plans were abandoned, consequently its believed the railway carried frieght only for the whole of its 70 year life.
However in later years occasional excursion trains did use the station at Yeadon as pictured above.
