Midland Railway Bradford Arial vew

The Aircraft would have been over Frizinghall when
the picture was taken. I am guessing it would be one
of CH Woods pictures showing Forster Sq station
extreme top right of the picture. The old Bradford
Canal can also bee seen bottom left where it passed
under Kings road. Sprinkwell Locks and pump house
can be seen centre left. It was of course the railway
that saw the demise of the canal, though in truth it
was always more of a liability than anything else
having no ready water supply at its city end.

The only level entry and exit from the city being
the valley of the Bradford beck running to the
north which joined the river Aire at Shipley.
This view takes in the whole of the railway
from Queens Rd which is extreme bottom of
picture, Canal Rd and Kings Rd are left with
Midland Rd on the right Passing the the football
ground of Braford City FC middle right. The goods
facilities at at Valley rd along with the city's power
staion and gas works can be seen top and middle centre
