Arriving at Embsay with the train from Bolton Abbey
GWR 5643.
These engines were replacements for the Taff Vale
Railways tank engines
Never quite as successful as the Taffy Tanks as they
had a habit of derailing in the tight colliery yards of
the Welsh valley's. Most drivers preferred to drive
them bunker first so the trailing truck could guide
the engine into the curves.
