The Lady Armaghdale
Now known as No. 686 'The Lady Armaghdale' this smart little locomotive was delivered new, by the Hunslet Engine Company Ltd, to the Manchester Ship Canal in 1898. On arrival the locomotive was numbered 14 and given the name 'St John'. It was renamed 'The Lady Armaghdale' in 1963 following purchase by I.C.I Ltd. It was then that it also aquired its very fetching red livery. The locomotive arrived for preservation at Bridgnorth in 1969.

Known as a ‘Mickey Mouse’, one of 128 locomotives built under the direction of H. G. Ivatt, the last Chief Engineer of the London, Midland & Scottish Railway. No. 46443 was built at Crewe at a cost of £8.734. This engine worked at a variety of locations around the Midlands and was used for railway work of all kinds. No. 46443 was withdrawn in March 1967, purchased for preservation, and arrived at the SVR in April of the same year.
