I shall always have a very soft spot for the Great
Western Railway as it has so many happy associations
from my childhood.
The West Somerset Railway creates the perfecta
atmosphere. The platform runs right up to the sea
front and brings those memories flooding back of
the excitement of the annual holiday away at the
seaside. Minehead itself is a very lovely town
and of course the sea.
Minehead I believe has the longest platform in
preserved railways
They have excellent motive power which is more
than capable of hauling those long summer trains
