pacific Braunton at Minehead
The addition of outside Walschaerts valve gear
meant an addition of some five tons to the overall
weight of the engines.
More efficient and easier to maintain as they were
it restricted the route availability for those engines
built especially for these light lines.
Braunton does look magnificent though
Even with the smaller boiler WC's were said to
perform as well as MN's with a bit of extra elbow
grease from the fireman
