K&WVR Locomotive Roster for Weekend 28th & 29th July and weekdays to 3rd August 2018

Locomotive Roster for Weekend 28th & 29th July and weekdays to 3rd August 2018

by news@kwvr
These last few weeks have emphasised the difficulty of advising, in advance, the locomotives to be rostered for our services, and never has the disclaimer at the foot of these notifications been more appropriate.
The fire risk continues and our trackside is still tinder dry, resulting in the Railway, reluctantly, replacing Thursday's steam locomotive with one of our diesels but, as yet, there is no blanket steam ban on the KWVR and steam passenger services continue whenever possible.
This weekend, with the usual disclaimer, will have 'Big Jim', USATC S160 2-8-0 5820,  at the head of steam services on both days and will continue with the weekday service.
On Sunday 5820 and will be joined by Ivatt 2-6-2T 41241 on the our Sunday Vintage Train service. However conditions were favourable for the preferred locomotive, LNWR 'Coal Tank' 0-6-2T 1054 to head the Vintage Train. These are tricky times and we ask for understanding if the advertised locomotive is substituted.
The diesel service this Saturday will be locomotive hauled with our monthly Diesel & Ale train running throughout Saturday alongside our steam hauled service. This will be hauled by Class 37, 37 075.
On Saturday (Green Diesel & Ale Timetable) the first train departs Oxenhope (diesel) at 09.00 with steam locomotive trains operating from 11.00 and on Sunday (Blue Vintage Train Timetable), the first passenger service is steam hauled at 10.15.
Throughout the week the Orange Timetable operates (Monday - Friday) with the first service leaving Oxenhope at 10.00 The Orange Timetable includes the Haworth - Oxenhope tour bus which, on dry days, will be provided by an open top double decker for unrivalled views of the local countryside.
Whilst every effort will made to ensure that the advised motive power is available, the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway reserve the right to change this when operational circumstances so dictate.

K&WVR Locomotive Roster for Weekend 21st & 22nd July and weekdays to 27th July 2018

Locomotive Roster for Weekend 21st & 22nd July and weekdays to 27th July 2018 Correction

by news@kwvr
Firstly, an apology for the non-appearance of the roster for last weekend and the current week. Due to the ongoing fire risk plus outstanding repairs it was not possible to post the roster in advance.
Despite rain in the last week the fire risk continues and our trackside is still tinder dry but, unlike the 'big' railway, there is no steam ban on the KWVR and steam passenger services continue.
This weekend BR Standard 4MT 4-6-0 75078 will head steam services on both days and footplate crews being urged to drive steam locomotives sympathetically to the conditions. With a 6 coach train on Saturday and with conditions in mind these trains will be "banked" by English Electric 0-6-0 diesel D0226 'Vulcan'.
On Sunday 75078 continues alone on a 5 coach formation and will be joined by Ivatt 2-6-2T 41241 on the our Sunday Vintage Train service. Conditions are still too dry to roster LNWR 0-6-2T 1054 which is less powerful than the Ivatt.
The diesel services on Saturday will be handled by our Class 101 diesel multiple unit.
On Saturday (Green Timetable) the first train departs Oxenhope (diesel railcar) at 09.00 with steam locomotive trains operating from 11.00 and on Sunday (Blue Vintage Train Timetable), the first passenger service is steam hauled at 10.15.
This week sees the introduction of the Orange Timetable (Monday - Friday) with the first service leaving Oxenhope at 10.00 hauled by BR 'Ivatt Tank' 2-6-2T 41241, resplendent in  its KWVR / LMS crimson lake re-opening livery, and this locomotive will continue throughout the week. The Orange Timetable hails the introduction of the Haworth - Oxenhope tour bus which, on dry days will be provided by an open top double decker for unrivalled views of the local countryside.
Whilst every effort will made to ensure that the advised motive power is available, the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway reserve the right to change this when operational circumstances so dictate.

With the hot weather continuing and our trackside tinder dry, it has been a challenging week for the Railway, but, there is no steam ban on the KWVR and steam passenger services continue, but this weekend with a little help from the rear.
This weekend BR Standard 4MT 4-6-0 75078 will head steam services on both days as footplate crews are urged to drive steam locomotives sympathetically to the conditions. With this in mind these trains will be "banked" by BR Class 20 diesel 20 031.
This pairing continues on Sunday when we will also have the second of our vintage Sundays which this weekend will be headed by MR 4F 0-6-0 43924.
The diesel services on Saturday will be handled by our Class 101 diesel multiple unit.
On Saturday the first train departs Oxenhope (diesel railcar) at 09.00 with steam locomotive trains operating from 11.00 and on Sunday, the first passenger service is steam hauled at 10.15.
Weekday has the Pink timetable in use with the first service leaving Oxenhope at 10.00 and after a successful return at our 50th Anniversary Gala these services will be hauled by BR 'Ivatt Tank' 2-6-2T 41241, resplendent in  its KWVR / LMS crimson lake re-opening livery, the first time the 'Ivatt' has operated a service train since restoration.

Locomotive Roster for Weekday 2nd – 6th July 2018

by news@kwvr
We apologise for that error, here is the corrected news post.
What an 8-day 50th Anniversary Gala we have had and now it is back to normal running with steam trains operating every day. The visiting steam and diesel locomotives are now making their way back to their home bases and so attention turns strictly to our home fleet.
For the weekday service our Midland Railway 4F 0-6-0 43924 will be at the head of the service throughout the week
For the timetable in operation during the week, please click HERE to visit the main website.
Whilst every effort will made to ensure that the advised motive power is available, the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway reserve the right to change this when operational circumstances so dictate
