Collett's 'Taffy Tanks' Would not have been out of place back in 1840

Of course not Taffy Tanks as we recognise them,
they were however meant as replacements for the
Taff Vale Railways tank engines which hauled
coal to the docks at Cardiff, Barry and Swansea.


I am told they used to have problems on the tight
curves in colliery estate and most engine men 
preferred to drive them bunker first allowing 
the trailing pair to guide the engine into such 
tight curves


Of course much war materiel and of course US 
soldiers came in through the South Welsh ports 
and could well have been pulled away from the
docks by Taffy Tanks and Collett's replacement's


Come on you guy's we got an invasion to get on with
