the Great Western built them as replacement of the
Taff Vale tanks which hauled so many of the coal
trains in South wales.
Sadly they seemed to have a habit of derailing on
the tight curves experienced up the valley's
As the drivers got to know them they preferred to
drive them bunker first as the trailing wheels
tended to guide the engine into the curves
So the Taffy tanks continued to be preferred old as
they were
Well we don't have any tight curves here
