Lancashire and Yorkshire 0-6-0 12322 better known as L&Y 1300 class 27

Carrying the LMS lettering and numbers 12322.
Class 27 locomotives were designed by John Aspinall
and 484 were built between 1889 - 1918 at Horwich Works.

12322  brought  the train down from Rawtenstall
after which Sir Nigel Gresley took charge taking
the train on the Heywood then from Heywood
back to Rawtenstall and all stations there too

The class 27 are almost identical to the 0-6-0 of
Barton Wright whose class 25 engine can be seen
on the Keighley Worth Valley Line and starred in
the film 'The Railway Children. There were many
and significant changes made by John Aspinall to
the design such as higher boiler pressure along
with slightly larger cylinders resulting a higher
tractive effort
