I have had a trip up to Oxenhope this morning and
took some more detailed pictures of 48431
As you can see the corrosion to the bottom of the
tender is quite severe.
The running gear all seems ok to a simple visual
examination
So I do suspect the wear/corrosion is internal as
indeed main axle bearings and such are internal
So only the KWVR engineers know the full story
We can only hope it will soon be seen as a feasible
project for restoration
Meantime we can all see it close up
Go along and take a look yourself.
