from Great Northern Junction at Windhill is was a
steady pull up the incline to Thackley. The driver
would have full regulator and be using a lot of
steam so the fireman would have built the fire up
at Shipley and be juggling the water level and steam
pressure along with firing the engine. It was a hard
life for firemen on the Great Northern around
Bradford, Shipley, Keighley and Halifax
