Rawtenstall is the terminus of the East Lancashire
Railway and quite close to the birthplace and home
of a kinsman of mine who was one of the founder
member of the labour party, David Shackleton.
He would have known the station well both in his
trade union days and when he became an MP
On this day of my visit BR Std class 4 80080 was
on duty
Also in the sidings was an engineers inspection
coach
