Somerset and Dorset 2-8-0 and the Tilbury tank engines

Here a little study of the S&D 2-8-0

I read a little time ago that when the Tilbury and
Southend three cyl tanks were designed the
valve gear was a direct copy on the gear on
the S&D

Of course the Tilbury tanks would have had an extra
 set

However an interesting question

Here some details of the S&D

Below the said Tilbury and Southend Railway
tank engine. It too like the S&D was a special
engine fro which Derby was responsible

So not inconceivable that having a set of gear ready
designed, Derby drawing office simply utilised them
again for a short run of specialist engines.
