Bradford Midland and Bradford L&Y

Bradford was of course first served by the Midland railway via the Aire valley loop to Leeds. From its Market St Station now called Foster Sq

The Lancashire and Yorkshire railways soon followed with a tortuous route from Halifax which linked to the Calder valley line through the Peninies and over to Manchester linking with Liverpool to Manchester line

Served from their station at Adolphus St they soon expanded and moved closer to the town and the Great Exchange station. So large was the goods traffic that the original terminus Adolphus St was wholly retained as goods only.
